A message from our Executive Director - Melissa Cruse :
Working in recovery in western North Carolina has been life-changing. I have seen miracles happen. I am also a person in long-term recovery who has had my own miracles happen. It is amazing to see folks come out of that desperation and hopelessness and enter a new way of living. Reuniting with their children. Maintaining a job. Buying a home. Being dependable, trustworthy members of their community. It is beautiful to watch. They come to ICGH Treatment Centers just broken people. Through treatment and housing, they are able to turn it all around. The services that ICGH provides are from licensed and certified counselors also in recovery. Which truly makes a difference. They trust more. Are willing to open up more. Therefore, the therapy process is more effective. We have amazing funding opportunities for those suffering from opioid use disorder. Treatment and housing are provided for FREE. However, there is a gap for those who struggle with other substances. Such as alcohol or stimulants. So far, there is no state funding for these substances. This is where Recovery NC comes in. We aim to find the dollars to support the care of ALL persons suffering from the disease of addiction. So that we can reach as many as possible in our community who are still suffering. It takes all of us to make the difference. If you're interested in learning how you can make a difference, please reach out to me at 828-322-5915 ext 150.
XO,
Melissa
As 2023 comes to an end, here is a review from Executive Director, Melissa Cruse.
December 15, 2023
As we approach the end of another impactful year at Recovery NC, I am thrilled to share with you the incredible milestones and achievements that your unwavering support has helped us accomplish throughout 2023. Your generosity and dedication to our cause have made a profound difference in the lives of many individuals seeking recovery and rehabilitation.
One of the most significant triumphs this year was our ability to provide vital treatment services for 11 patients for an entire month. This achievement speaks volumes about our collective commitment to ensuring access to essential care for those battling addiction.
Moreover, our collaboration with Partners Behavioral Health Management in hosting the Recovery Summit in Gastonia NC was an inspiring testament to the power of community-driven initiatives. This event served as a platform for education, awareness, and support, amplifying our efforts to break stigmas and provide resources for recovery.
It is the personal stories of transformation that truly underscore the impact of our work. One such story involves a member of our housing program who, as she re-entered the workforce, received much-needed shoes and an outfit for custody court. These seemingly small contributions played a pivotal role in empowering her journey towards a brighter future.
Additionally, your support directly facilitated life-saving assistance for a resident of Day One Recovery Homes. We were able to fund diabetic testing supplies and insulin for an individual who came to us unsheltered and without access to necessary medication. Your generosity truly changes lives.
The strides we have made this year are a testament to the profound difference we can make when we come together for a shared cause. It is because of your kindness, generosity, and commitment that Recovery NC continues to be a beacon of hope and a catalyst for positive change.
As we look ahead to 2024, we are filled with optimism and enthusiasm for the opportunities that lie ahead. Your continued support will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in fueling our efforts and expanding our reach to serve even more individuals in need.
Thank you for standing with us on this transformative journey. Your support is invaluable, and we are immensely grateful for the trust you place in us.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Melissa Cruse, Executive Director
